About the HRA
The Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Stearns County (Stearns County HRA) was established in the early 1970s to address the housing-related needs of the County's residents and to assist in the development of the County's economic resources. Until 1998, the Stearns County HRA contracted for its housing services. In the summer of 1998, the HRA Board of Commissioners established its own office in Cold Spring. This office with its six-member staff, under the direction of the HRA Board, now handles the housing and economic/community development needs for Stearns County.
Economic Development
Stearns County HRA is instrumental in local communities' economic development. The Stearns County HRA has provided assistance for projects that have created new jobs and brought new businesses to towns. The HRA also offers financial assistance to businesses to expand or modernize facilities. For more information, please contact the HRA office.
Housing
The Stearns County HRA is involved in various housing endeavors. The HRA administers federal rental-subsidy programs that ensure affordable housing for eligible low-/very low-income residents through the Public Housing and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Programs. It has provided an affordable option for home ownership through the First Time Homebuyer Program and it is developing affordable rental twin homes throughout the county. It also provides affordable housing for seniors age 62+ in Belgrade.
