The Civil Division of the Stearns County Attorney's Office serves as legal counsel for the Human Services on cases filed in Stearns County District Court and provides a variety of services to ensure that a child receives support.
These services include:
- Obtaining court orders for child support, child care and medical support
- Obtaining court orders legally naming the father of children born outside of marriage
- Locating non-custodial parents
- Collecting current and/or past support payments
- Enforcing child support orders
- Obtaining court orders modifying child support orders

Services NOT provided
The Stearns County Attorney's Office is not authorized by statute to provide the following services:
- Legal advice to either party
- Legal representation to either party
- Divorce Action
- Legal actions for visitation/parenting time or custody
- Establishment of spousal maintenance only
- Enforcement of court-ordered payment of unpaid bills
- Attorney fees
- Property settlement
- Any other items not related to support payments
