Immunizations/Flu Clinics

Although immunizations are among the most beneficial and cost-effective public health measures known, many children do not receive all of the recommended vaccines on time.  Low levels of fully immunized children can lead to increased incidence of vaccine preventable diseases.  Some of these diseases, which were thought to be eradicated, have re-emerged and have led to disability and even death for some children.

The Public Health Division works with community providers to help assure parents have access to safe and affordable vaccines.  Public Health also provides vaccines to the public at regular clinics during the month, coordinated with WIC clinics.  Vaccines are available for children two months through 18 years old.  Adult and post-secondary students may also be eligible to receive vaccines as well.  Public Health also coordinates flu vaccines with the community each year.

All children are required by law to have vaccinations prior to attending school, or to have an exemption on file at their school.  If you are not sure of your child's immunization record,  you can contact your health care provider or your child's school.

The Public Health Division provides the following vaccinations:

DtaP (diptheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis)
Polio (inactivated polio)
HIB (haemophilus influenzae, type b)
PCV 7 (pediatric pneumococcal)
Rotavirus
HBV (hepatitis B)
HAV (hepatitis A)
MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
Varivax (chicken pox)
Tdap or Td (tetanus booster)
Meningococcal
Gardasil (human papilloma virus)

Adults can receive:
Pneumococcal vaccine (adult)
Zostavax

Immunization clinic times will vary, and appointments are required.  To schedule an appointment, call 320.203.6942.  If long distance, call 1.800.450.3663.
