I am always looking for different ways to conserve energy within our home. I know that conserving energy saves money and our planet. I thought this true or false quiz was a good way to test how savvy you are as well!
A. Heat is your biggest energy hog?
B. Toilets use more water than anything else in your home?
C. The only way to save your computer's energy during your break is to shut it off?
D. Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL) are the most energy efficient option?
E. Use a coffee maker daily costs you about $35 a year?
A. True. Your heat typically accounts for 31% and AC about 12%. You can contact your local utility company to ask for a free energy audit.
B. True. Most of our households flush away about 26.7% of water. In possible install a low-flow toilet.
C. False. Having your computer go into a sleep mode uses very little electricity; with no wait time for you to reboot.
D. False. LED's are now more efficient and they use about half the energy that CFL's do and last four times longer.
E. True. Leaving your warming element on your coffee maker for an hour each day really does add up.
How did you do? I think the coffee maker one was the biggest surprise to me!
