Marian Rengel, Outreach Coordinator for the Minnesota Digital Library, will present Minnesota Reflections: Digital Online Resources at the Stearns History Museum on September 8, 2010 at 9 AM. Rengel’s program highlights what the Minnesota Digital Library (MDL) offers researchers, genealogists, students and teachers. She will introduce individual collections and give a tour of the database interface. MDL’s resources include over 45,000 unique photographs, maps, journals and letters formatted in a searchable database. Their mission not only includes preserving these images but to improve public access to historical documents. More than 100 historical societies, libraries, universities and special archives from across the state participate in the digital library. Links to each of these organizations allow users to further expand their search as needed.
There is no charge for Stearns History Museum members; admission for non-members is $5. For information about Breakfast Club or the Museum, please call (320) 253-8424. The American Association of Museums accredits the Stearns History Museum and Research Center. It is located at 235 33rd Avenue South in St. Cloud.
