Stearns County Quarry Park Gatekeeper Don Blakney of Princeton, was selected as the winner of Minnesota’s 2011 trout and salmon stamp contest, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource (DNR).

Blakney has been an artist for over 40 years. This is his first time winning the trout and salmon contest, but Blakney has won conservation stamp contests for six other states and has placed in several other stamp contests.

A Minnesota trout and salmon stamp is required for everyone who fishes in a designated trout stream, designated trout lake, Lake Superior, and those who possess trout and salmon according to the DNR.

Meet the artist in our video interview.
