September is National Preparedness Month – an opportunity for everyone to take a few minutes to think about their role as individuals as it relates to personal and family emergency preparedness.
No matter where residents live, there are possible hazards that face their community. Natural disasters such as tornadoes and ice storms as well as technological disasters like train derailments and hazardous materials accidents can happen anywhere at any time.
Emergencies can be devastating for those who are unprepared, but for people who are prepared for disasters, they are able to recover much more quickly.
National Preparedness Month serves as a good reminder that everyone has a responsibility to protect themselves and their family.
Do you or your family have an emergency plan? Have you put together a disaster supply kit?
