Household Hazardous Waste Truck Collecting in St. Stephen

Stearns County’s Household Hazardous Waste truck will be in St. Stephen doing a collection this Saturday.  The truck travels to cities around Stearns County over the summer months collecting hazardous products homeowners no longer want or need.

The truck will be in St. Stephen at the City/Fire Hall from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25.

This is a chance for residents to get rid of all those unsafe or nuisance products lying around the house – such as paints, ag pesticides, cleaners, poisons, ink/toner cartridges, roofing tar, fuels, automotive chemicals, sealers, garden chemicals, pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, adhesives, aerosols, solvents, mothballs and mercury.

Products can be disposed of at no charge.  It’s a free service offered by Stearns County’s Environmental Services Department.

Items that cannot be accepted through the Household Hazardous Waste Program include: used motor oil, antifreeze, explosives, furniture, household garbage, tires, medical waste, appliances or any other unknown products.  Also not accepted is business waste.  These collections are designed to collect home, not business, products.

For those who cannot make this scheduled mobile collection time, the Tri-County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, newly located at 3601 5th Street South in Waite Park, accepts products year-round.  See hours of operation and other mobile collection dates and times.  Any questions can be answered by calling 320-255-6140 or 1-800-450-6140.
