Service Center Facts
Stearns County has outgrown its current facilities and it’s estimated this building will accommodate the County through the year 2050. The Service Center was also designed for expansion, both out and up, and could potentially double in size. There’s room for additions to the north and east of the existing building.
The new 45,000 square foot building was ENERGY STAR designed which will greatly reduce energy and maintenance costs. The facility supports the environment with its energy-efficient building design, eco-friendly landscaping and environmentally practical construction features:
- geo-thermal heating and cooling system
- sidewalk pervious pavers
- daylighting/motion-sensored lights
- office natural lighting
- rain gardens
- recycled and recyclable carpet
- fluorescent light bulbs
- prairie restoration fields
- low gas-emitting latex paint
