State Funded Program Reports

The Minnesota legislature provides funding to Stearns County to administer the following programs: Feedlots, Local Water Management, Shoreland, Subsurface Sewage Treatment Systems, and Wetland Conservation Act.  The funding mechanism is the Natural Resources Block Grant.

Stearns County is required to meet certain website reporting requirements pertaining to these funded programs as well as the Natural Resourses Block Grant.  The posted reports show the amount and kind of work that was done.

Feedlots

The funding for the Feedlot Program is based primarily on the number of feedlots in the County.

Clean Water Land & Legacy Amendment

In 2008, Minnesota's voters passed the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment (Legacy Amendment) to the Minnesota Constitution to: protect drinking water sources; to protect, enhance, and restore wetlands, prairies, forests, and fish, game, and wildlife habitat; to preserve arts and cultural heritage; to support parks and trails; and to protect, enhance, and restore lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater.

Stearns County has been awarded funds for the Subsurface Sewage Treatment System Imminent Health Threat Abatement Grant and  the Subsurface Sewage Treatment System Inventory of Impaired Reaches of the Sauk River.
