Notary Public commissions are completed through the Secretary of State. Once your commission is complete you must then file your notary with your resident county.
You must be a resident of Stearns County to file your notary commission at the license centers. The commission can be filed in person or by mail.
If mailed, the applicant must provide two signatures on plain white paper and witnessed by a notary. The first signature matches their first, middle, and last name as listed on the notary's commission. The second is a sample signature in the style in which the notary will actually execute notarial acts.
The fee is to file a notary signature is $20.00 payable to Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer.
