Stearns County Park Rules

(Abridged; from County Ordinances #353 and #201)

Review all Parks Ordinances

ALCOHOL: Sale of alcohol is prohibited without appropriate license from the Auditor/Treasurer. Alcohol is prohibited from Quarry Park and Nature Preserve. Beer only at Warner Lake County Park & no alcohol at beach.

BICYCLING: Bicycling is permitted only on trails designated for their use.

CAMPING: No overnight camping is allowed.

ENFORCEMENT: Any infraction of a duly adopted Park Rule constitutes a misdemeanor and is punishable by law.

ENVIRONMENT: It is unlawful to injure or harm wildlife within the parks.

EXPLOSIVES: Firecrackers and other fireworks are prohibited in parks.

FIREARMS: Possession of all firearms and weapons is prohibited except where permits are issued. Shooting into a park from beyond its boundaries is prohibited.

FISHING: In Quarry Park & Nature Preserve, fishing is allowed only in designated quarries. All State (lake) fishing regulations apply.

GLASS CONTAINERS: Glass beverage containers are prohibited in County Parks.

HORSES: Horses are allowed only on the vehicle roadway, or trails designated for their use.

LARGE GROUPS: A permit is required by groups containing more than 50 people.

PARKING PERMIT: A parking permit is required on all registered motor vehicles in Quarry Park and Nature Preserve. Permits must be properly displayed.

PEDDLING: Peddling and soliciting is prohibited.

PERMITS: Those claiming possession of a permit must be able to produce it upon request. Permits are obtainable through the Stearns County Park Department and will carry the stamp of the department.

PETS: Pets are allowed within the park when attended and effectively restrained by leash, not longer than 6 feet. Pets are prohibited from buildings and swimming areas. Owners must clean up after their pets.  Pets are NOT allowed in the SNA area. 

SOUND EQUIPMENT: Use of stereos, amplifiers and other electrical sound equipment will be allowed by permit only.

SNOWMOBILES: Snowmobiles are allowed only on trails designated for such use.

SWIMMING: In Quarry Park & Nature Preserve, swimming is allowed only in designated quarries.

TRAFFIC: Vehicular traffic is allowed only on designated roads and parking areas. Speeds shall not exceed those posted. Vehicles parked in the park after hours, or in areas not designated for parking may be towed away (impounded) at the cost and expense of the owner.

TRAILS: In Quarry Park & Nature Preserve, visitors must stay on trails posted and provided for use.
