Stearns County Attorney
County Attorney: Janelle P. Kendall

Message from County Attorney Janelle P. Kendall

As your county attorney, I emphasize providing better support to law enforcement and county departments, accountability for your tax dollars, and active leadership in the community to make Stearns County a safe place to live, learn and grow. Accountability has also included responding to events which affect our community:

  • responding to the stream of children left in automobiles through child protection, legal and educational measures in the Kids in Cars Campaign
  • responding to the requests of schools to educate all adults having contact with children about the danger of ignoring bullying behaviors through the Anti-Bullying Campaign; and
  • responding to the needs of schools and law enforcement in knowing each others' rules and constraints through the county-wide School Resource Officer/School Administrator trainings.

Additionally, extraordinary problems of drug abuse are explored through the extraordinary measures of Stearns County Drug Court, began in 2001 with federal dollars, bringing intensive supervision and assistance to drug addicted felons in retaking their lives and stopping their law breaking behaviors.

Responding to specific community needs is part of our job in protecting public safety and making Stearns County a better place to live. Ongoing educational and crime prevention programs will continue!
