When severe summer storms threaten Stearns County residents, we are prepared to take immediate action. Stearns County has a volunteer Skywarn Weather Spotter program. Our highly trained Skywarn Spotters are activated using a telephone notification system, then dispatched to the location of the threatening storms. Once in contact with those storms, they track them as they rumble through the county. Our Skywarn Weather Spotters are trained by the National Weather Service to effectively identify severe weather and report that information to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
