S.E.R.T.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office in cooperation wtih the Benton County Sheriff's Office has a multi-jurisdictional tactical team known as the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT).
Approximately 20 members make up the part-time team and are trained in special tactics and weaopns to deal wtih extraordinary situations. SERT furnishes a specialized service for both departments and for the public they serve.
SERT typically handles warrants, barricaded subjects and dignitary protection through the use of specialized and unique training. SERT members may also be called on to conduct surveillance and to make arrests in high-risk situations.
SERT also works with the St. Cloud Emergency Response Team (ERT) at times.
