Green Acres Mapping Tool
This tool gives you the information you'll need to complete Green Acres forms. It will help you measure the approximate amount of tillable land, acres attributable to your building site, and acreage enrolled in a conservation program, if applicable. You may wish to print this page for easier reference before continuing.
Step 1:
Start the Map Application (it will open in a new browser window)
Step 2: Log In
The application is password-protected, but for Green Acres you can use the generic name user with a password of user. For "Map Service", select STEARNSASSESSOR from the drop-down. Click OK, and when the Stearns County disclaimer appears, click Go To Map.
When the application opens, you'll see a map of Stearns County.
Above the map is a row of tool buttons as well as text links to Search and Print functions.
Step 3: Find Your Parcel
If you know your parcel number...
To find your parcel quickly, click Search By Parcel Number,

and type in your parcel number.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Stearns County's recent parcel conversion added a 0 after the 2nd period in the sequence (for example, 01.70236.0924) If you're using an older parcel number, please insert a 0 after that 2nd period.

Click the Perform Search button, and the mapping tool will zoom directly to your parcel.

Your parcel number and deeded acres reported for this parcel will display, both on the map and in the Single Feature window.
If you don't know your parcel number...
If you don't know your parcel number, you can use the Zoom In tool
. Here's how -
Click Zoom In, and then drag your mouse diagonally to draw a box on the screen. The map will zoom to the area you've boxed in.
Continue drawing boxes to zoom in until you see your parcel outlined on the map, as shown below.

Click the Identify or Select tool
, which will bring up the Single Feature window.
After that window opens, click once on your parcel to select it. Then, if you need to look more closely, click the Zoom to Feature button in the Single Feature window to zoom in tightly on your parcel.
If the Single Feature window is covering your parcel, you can move the window by dragging its title bar or close that window by clicking the X in the upper right corner.
Step 4: Measure Your Areas
When you've located your parcel on the map, you'll use the Measure tool
to define the different areas on your parcel.
Click Measure, then click once on each corner of the area you want to measure. When you reach the last corner, and the area is completely defined, double-click your mouse to stop measuring. That area's acreage will appear in the Measure window.

Make note of this measurement for your Green Acres forms. To measure a different area or to start over, click the Clear button and then click the corners as before.
