Descriptive Narrative:
The wide basalt dike along the north and northwest walls of Quarry Twelve extends southwest through Quarries Thirteen and Fourteen. On the east wall of Quarry Twelve, outcrops of red granite are relatively continuous with natural outcrops to the east and south.
This is one of the smallest and most shallow quarries in the park; it has a maximum depth of 23 feet. Water levels in Quarries Twelve and Thirteen are often significantly different even though the quarries are separated by less than 50 feet. The main geologic significance of this quarry is its proximity and continuity with Quarries Thirteen and Fourteen.
