Descriptive Narrative:
Quarry Sixteen is joined to Quarries Seventeen and Eighteen by continuous natural outcrops which display a variety of basalt dikes and shear zones.
The high north wall of Quarry Sixteen is a probable fault plane and red and gray granite are in contact in the northeast corner. Gray granite and basalt are on top of the north wall and another contact zone between the gray and red granite is located in the northwest corner of the quarry. This is one of the only areas of gray granite in the western quarry group.
The quarry is very small and shallow, with a maximum depth of 17 feet. A small extension of the quarry to the northwest is not included on the depth map because it is so small and shallow.
